Krishna C.V. Grandhi is the founder of The Centre for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Law (CSAIL) and a Designated Senior Advocate practicing before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, and national Tribunals. With over 25 years of experience across law, technology, and public policy, he brings a rare and valuable perspective to the evolving legal landscape surrounding artificial intelligence.
Mr. Grandhi holds advanced degrees in Computer Science, Law, and Business from leading institutions in the United States, including Cleveland State University and Cornell University. His legal practice spans commercial litigation, corporate disputes, white-collar defense, insolvency proceedings, and high-stakes arbitration. He has advised and represented public sector enterprises, multinational corporations, and individual clients in matters involving fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, regulatory enforcement, and cross-border liability—often at the intersection of law and emerging technology.
As one of India's leading voices in digital rights enforcement, Mr. Grandhi has played a central role in shaping the legal response to online piracy, intellectual property abuse, and the misuse of digital platforms. He has pioneered the strategic use of John Doe orders in India's IP litigation landscape and continues to advise stakeholders on complex privacy litigation and cross-jurisdictional content disputes.
CSAIL reflects his conviction that the rise of artificial intelligence poses not only technical challenges but deep legal, ethical, and institutional ones. His work focuses on understanding how AI is reshaping legal responsibility, due process, criminal attribution, evidence standards, and regulatory frameworks. Through CSAIL, Mr. Grandhi is building a research-driven platform that brings legal clarity to the fast-moving terrain of algorithmic decision-making, data governance, and AI-facilitated harm.
As a trusted advisor to enforcement agencies, academic institutions, and policymakers, he is committed to shaping a legal ecosystem that keeps pace with technological change—ensuring that constitutional values, procedural fairness, and public accountability remain central in the age of AI.
